- Cleveland Institute of Art -

"I am at the Cleveland Institute of Art majoring in Photography and Video and am originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I have always believed that being happy with who you are is deeply connected to what you do—whether in work or study. There’s a saying that when you do what you love, it doesn’t feel like work at all. I knew I wanted to pursue higher education, but I also wanted to choose a path that would keep me engaged and motivated. For me, art has always been a safe space—a way to express myself and continue discovering who I am. I chose to study at CIA because, coming straight out of an inner-city high school, I was looking for something contemporary and exciting. The atmosphere of the building felt like a place where I could see myself thriving after graduation. It reminds me of a smaller version of New York—vibrant and inspiring—yet still carries that comforting sense of home. I look forward to continuing my exploration of the Black ethos as an independent artist. I also aspire to expand my skills and interests by pursuing opportunities in creative direction and gallery curation. I am deeply grateful for JHFE because I understand how vital it is to have a supportive community when pursuing a career in the arts. To some, this path may seem uncertain, but I’m thankful that someone believes in it—and in me—just as much as I do. Thanks to JHFE for supporting my dreams and helping me move forward. I will always remember you as an important part of my journey toward achieving them."
